We have been invited by Seattle Yacht Club to join in sessions they have already scheduled for their members with Flagship Maritime for those interested in taking the next step and earning their captain's license.
Whether or not you are planning on attending CYA's Informational Seminar on this subject on March 27, here is an opportunity for you to take the next step and actually take the coursework to earn your license.
Flagship Maritime will be holding a joint session for SYC & CYA at the SYC Elliott Bay Outstation as follows:
* The "6-pack" class runs April 9-13 AND April 16 & 17. It is a 7-day class.
* Testing for the "6-pack" is on Tuesday, April 17
* If you want to add on the Master's, the class runs April 18-20.
* Testing for the Master's is on Friday, April 20th.
Cost for 6-pack is $900
Cost for Master's is an additional $300
The courses include chart work, navigation and rules of the road. To actually get your license requires documentation of sea-time. Flagship Maritime will assist you through the entire process.
Additionally, each student must have USCG approved:
2. Drug test
3. 1st Aid/CPR
4. and a TWIC card, all at a nominal additional cost.
Capt Jan Anderson of Flagship Maritime is coordinating registration and fees. She can also assist in coordinating the medical components listed above.
If you would like to sign up for either class (you must take the 6-pack before you qualify for the Master's), please contact Jan directly at (253) 905-5972, and let me know that you've registered so I can keep track of space available.
Currently, room is available for each class. The class is limited to 14 persons total (between SYC & CYA), so sign up quickly if you would like to do this.
Location: Seattle Yacht Club Elliott Bay Outstation, 2601 West Marina Place, Seattle, WA 98199
