There will be a dazzling display of high-quality antique and classic vessels including cruisers, sailboats, and runabouts. An award-competition recognizes excellence in restoration, authenticity, and workmanship. Approximate 35 classic vessels create a colorful gathering along the Museum’s waterfront all day Saturday and Sunday morning.
This year, we feature vessels designed by John G. Alden. After apprenticing under Starling Burgess and B.B. Crowninshield, he opened his own office in 1909 and he went on to design over 900 vessels ranging from small dinghies to power vessels to his famous Malabar racing schooners.
Sunday afternoon, the vessels make their way down the Mystic River in a jubilant, three-mile parade.
