Wander is the perfect boat for a couple looking to gunkhole in Puget Sound and the San Juan Islands at a comfortable pace. Her shallow draft let’s her slip into places that others can’t. Equipped with dual-station wheel steering and controls, the skipper can easily step into the wheelhouse out of the elements. Her Yanmar 3YM30 diesel (new 2010) is quiet and sips fuel at a gallon or less per hour at around 6-7 knots. Accommodations include an enclosed head forward, with two long, facing bunks just aft in the main salon. A simple, but comfortable galley includes a sink and under-counter refrigerator to port and the original Galley Gal diesel stove plus a hanging locker to starboard. The pilothouse allows excellent all-around visibility for the helmsman and a comfortable dinette seats four. The engine room has easy access for servicing. Her cockpit has separate engine controls, a classic wood wheel and comfortable seating. A large barn door rudder also helps her maneuver well in close quarters.

Designed by John G. Alden as an open-cockpit, sloop-rigged sailboat she was originally built for the president of Todd Dry Docks at their Seattle yard in 1933 with 11/8" cedar on oak frames and galvanized fastenings. Around 1963 she was modified with the addition of a pilothouse to, in effect, become a motorsailor. To aid in preservation, in 2011 the mast was shortened and hinged on deck so she can be kept in covered moorage.

Other upgrades by this owner include all new thru-hulls, new water and holding tanks, AGM battery, charger, electronics, electrical panel, new wiring, stainless opening ports, all new cushions and a custom full-boat cover. In 2013 her planks below the waterline were completely refastened.
